A highly impactful one-day workshop on Exportable Banana Production Technology was successfully organized on August 30, 2025, at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Buldana-I, Jalgaon Jamod. The workshop was a joint initiative of KVK Buldana-I, State Agriculture Department Buldana, and ATMA Buldana, aimed at empowering farmers with modern banana cultivation practices suited for export markets.

The event witnessed an overwhelming participation of over 1200 farmers from the districts of Buldana, Akola, Amravati, and Jalgaon Khandesh, underscoring the growing interest in export-oriented banana production.

The workshop was inaugurated by Hon. Dr. Sanjay Kute, former Labour Minister of Maharashtra and MLA of Jalgaon Jamod Constituency. The program was presided over by Hon. Mr. Krishnarao Ingle, former MLA and President of Satpuda Educational Institution.

Other key dignitaries present included: Mr. Manoj Dhage, District Superintendent Agriculture Officer, Mr. Purushottam Unhale, Project Director, ATMA Buldana, Dr. Vikas Jadhao, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK Buldana-I, Mr. Balasaheb Vyavhare, Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer, Khamgaon, Mr. Ramesh Jadhav, Taluka Agriculture Officer, Jalgaon Jamod & Sangrampur, Mr. Anand Khandelwal, Jain Irrigation, Jalgaon Khandesh

Dr. Vikas Jadhao welcomed the participants and presented the objectives of the workshop. In his presidential address, Mr. Krishnarao Ingle highlighted the continuous efforts of KVK Buldana-I in guiding farmers through field demonstrations and training programs. He urged farmers to adopt export-oriented technologies and fully utilize KVK’s expertise to enhance banana quality for international markets.

Addressing the gathering, MLA Dr. Sanjay Kute emphasized the government’s initiatives like Jalyukt Shivar and reassured the audience of forthcoming facilities such as cold storage in the region to support farmers’ produce and minimize post-harvest losses.

Renowned expert Dr. K. B. Patil, Vice President, Tissue Culture Department, Jain Irrigation, led the technical session. He shared in-depth knowledge on: Advanced banana cultivation practices, Pest and disease management, Requirements for export-grade banana production

Mr. Anand Khandelwal further educated farmers on: Drip irrigation systems and fertigation, Automation in irrigation, Troubleshooting common issues in irrigation practices

The workshop was efficiently coordinated by Mr. Shashank Date, SMS Horticulture, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Ramesh Jadhav. The event’s success was supported by the dedicated efforts of Mr. Anil Gabhane, Mr. Shyam Borde, Mr. Sanjay Umale, Mr. Nitin Talokar, Mr. Vinod Janotkar, and Mr. Yogesh Wakekar.

The workshop served as a vital platform for farmer-scientist interaction, with a clear focus on equipping banana growers with the knowledge and technology required for producing export-quality bananas. The enthusiastic response from farmers and experts alike marks a significant step forward in the agricultural development of the region.
